No-mind Meditation

This is a meditation of not-doing, not-thinking, not-acting.

Recommended time: 20 to 45 minutes.

Follow the steps of the ritual of preparation.

Anchor the thumb and finger together and affirm within yourself, “I am. I simply am. Being is enough.” From time to time, you may repeat these sentences internally. Be aware of sensations, feelings, thoughts, and images that come and go and detach yourself, distance yourself from all attachment to these occurrences which happen.

Imagine yourself as a vast, blue sky and imagine that sensations, feelings, and thoughts are simply clouds, appearing and disappearing, coming and going.

Breathe and be aware of your breath as a movement coming and going, like thoughts coming and going, and be available within yourself to disappear into the stillness of no-mind, the calm of simply being, present, detached, still, and quiet. Do not try to create or change your state. Do not follow the white clouds that come and go. Simply be. “I am. I simply am. Being is enough.”

When you feel ready, gently bring yourself back to everyday consciousness and stretch and relax your body.
